Also, when I make an outside door, i usually make a 6" step going into the house, (under the door) The reason I do this, is so in case the drain gets clogged or blocked, the area would have to fill up w/6" of water before water got inside. Here in Staten Island, we have terrible water problems.Hope you don't think i'm criticizing, just offering some ideas. We were right on top of the footer at the level of the door and could not go any deeper! The home owners were instructed to clean loose debris away from the "french" drain anytime it collects.
